V8 swap... whats it take
Ive been thinkin about the idea of a V8 in my T4R
Hey has anyone here swaped out the 3.4 V6 for 4.7 or 5.7 V8 out of a tundra, etc. or have seen it done before?
How much fab work would be needed and would a new tranny be needed as well?
Thanks for all you replies!

You still have to get an adaptor to run your tranny. Google 1UZ swap and you can get a lot of info. I've been thinking about doing this too. The 4.7 is a 2UZ and has an iron block where at the 1 and 3 UZ have aluminium blocks. The 3UZ I think is out of the SC430 and I think it has drive by wire or something and haven't seen a swap with that. Plus price wise you can go to the junk yard and I'd get a halk cut off a 91 or so LS400 for like $1200 or less.

I don't think there is anyway what so ever to fit a 5.7L into a 3rd gen 4runner. i have heard of someone putting a 4.7L into a 2nd gen. search youtube.

If you are worried about fab work and doing it yourself, you are not ready.
If you have deep pockets anything is possible, mostly.
If you are decently mechanical and such, stick with supercharging/fuel mods etc. to the 3.4 before trying much else.
