V8 Supercharger

If you have installed the S/C on your V8, please post your thoughts about the performance gains. Thanks.

If it's anything like the supercharged v6 then you better hold on real tight.

According to TRD, the kit won't be out for another 60-90 days. It sounds promising, though. They've dynoed +100 hp and +100 ft. lbs for 335 hp and 430 ft. lbs. The kit MSRP's for $4,800 but my dealer quoted $3,800. On a $ per hp / ft. lb. basis, it comes out about the same as the current, heavily discounted kit for the Gen. 3 'Runner. I'm encouraged with TRD aftermarket support out of the box for the V-8 considering how long it took to get an S/C for any 'Runner at all. I'll be bolting one up around April and let everyone know how it goes.

Well, it depends on what vehicle you are putting it on. The S/C for Tundra and Sequoia are already out. I've seen them out sitting on the show room at the Toyota dealer. As mentioned above, the S/C for the new 4Runners are coming soon.

Well, have fun (especially with that S/C).

Thanks for the responses gang! I probably should have posted in the Tundra Forum, but this seems to be "where" the action is. I just bought my 2nd Tundra,,,a 2000 SR5 4X4 Longbed V8,,,only 9000 miles. The reason I was asking about the S/C,,,my nephew has a 2001 S-Runner with a supercharged 3.4L V6,,,,and it made a huge difference. My hesitation about the V8 S/C is the price,,,the cheapest I've seen it sell for is 3800.00, while the V6 S/C sells for under 2000.00!!! Ouch!

I'm a Toyota loyalist. Last year, I bought a baseline 2002 Tundra 2WD longbed. I put ZERO down payment,,,drove it 9600 miles, owed 14,500, and the dealer gave me 14,600. Try to get that kind of value out of a domestic! Get the feeling, TOYOTA!
