V8 Performance Mods

Has anyone put a supercharger on a V8 yet? What kind of results did you get? Is it worth it? Did you pay $4000? ....... Enquiring minds want to know!

What other mods have V8 owners done?

Mine's AWD so difficult to do a dyno. The brochures say 350hp, 440lb-ft. I love it except for getting 11mpg on premium gas. Love beating up on the sport compacts with coffee-can mufflers.

twilson: where did you put your boose guage?

With the popularity of the subaru wrx more dyno shops are getting 4 wheel set ups. I took mine to Dyno-Comp in Scottsdale Az, showed 220HP to the wheels and 265lbFtLbs for torque. All those other numbers are supposed to be at the crank. And at that I am skeptical if those crank numbers would be true, as I expected more on the dyno. I would get it dynoed at all costs, mine had issues with the ECU/program and took some doing to get a new one from TRD,, but once I did it was way faster and got rid of the bogging/hesitation. I didnt know I had a problem until I ran with a stock 2wd and was exactly the same.
Last track I ran a 14.99 @ 93mph, almost beat a mustang 5.0. Off the line I smoked him but we lose out to being shaped like a brick past 70mph

AWD

Do you have a mini van or something. My mother has an AWD Mazda MPV.

Mileage has been steedy at 16mpg

Haven't dynoed mine yet, but I expect some big numbers. Been looking to install a boost gauge myself Twilson, any chance you can post a pic of your install.

Biff: So you have a V8 and selectable 4WD? How is that? The V8's only come in either 2WD or AWD.

TWilson: My other car is a Paxton supercharged Mustang GT. Maybe I should get the 4Runner dynoed.

I too made the mistake of calling it AWD, its acutally full time 4wd with ratios front to rear. When I stomp on the gas and turn from a stop I can hear and feel the inside front wheel spin before the trac control kicks in, wish I could turn it off, 4 wheel smokies would be nice.
Yeah we got a minivan too......... with nitrous!

Did you guys see the fourwheeler review of the 04 TRD 4R? They called it a beast- fastest suv they ever tested, beat the Porsche Ghey-anne and drives better than the Toerag.
