Using 1999-02 MAF sensor on 1998 4runner
Longtime lurker first time poster. I've got a 1998 Limited with the 3.4L V6. I've done the deckplate mod, have an oem air filter, and an airaid intake pipe. I just replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, upstream and downstream O2 sensors and am still receiving the p0171 code. I've searched almost all the threads about the MAF sensor and believe mine is bad and causing the code. I'd like to replace it, but don't want to spend the $800 for the 1998 sensor when the 1999 sensor is $130. I understand I'd need to make some modifications to the air box, but has anyone done this or thought about upgrading? Thanks a lot for any input you have.

Thanks. Should have known I'd have missed the right keywords to search on my first post. So it looks like if I want to use the 1999-02 O2 sensor I need a newer oem air box for the sensor to plug into or an aftermarket intake built for the newer model and then I just need to repin the connector.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.

Crazypaint- Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm gonna try switching to a Volant CAI with sealed box, AFE pro dry s filter, and 1999 Denso MAF sensor. Will be my first time repinning a connector so that could be interesting, but I really want/need this CEL gone.
