used 4r comparison opinions...
ok, still on the hunt for a used 3rd gen 4runner.
im debating these two now.
1. 2000 4r with 76kmiles, limited, 4wd, locking diff, 32" tires (no lift), tan leather, wood, black/beigh exterior, pwr seats, clean interior, clean exterior (just minor blems bc its black), 2nd owner $16995 (maybe a lil less) private seller
2. 2002 4r with 49k miles keyless entry, tow hitch, fender flares, roof rack, color-keyed running boards, alloy wheels and new tires. Non-smoking original owner. $17,800 private seller
3. 2002 4r with 59982 miles CERTIFIED, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, AM/FM Stereo Radio, Cassette Player, CD Player, Air Conditioning, Tilt Steering Wheel, Cruise Control, Driver Side Air Bag, and Passenger Side Air Bag. $20,095 (id have to get him to lower the price a bit) DEALER
prob most of you would say the 2000 bc the locking diff. im leaning towards that one too. but the mileage is significantly higher than the 2002 which cost slightly more money.
what are your opinions?
Thanks!

just went to check out the 2000 4R. its not bad. a lil beat up inside at the rear and some paint blems but overall ok i guess. i would get it if he came down on the price but he's standing firm on the $16,995. the search continues!

yeh no joke. locked 4wd manual is impossible to find. i think imma give up on the locker thing. i have one now in my truck and rarely use it. im prob not gonna wheel THAT much. just some fire roads, hills, etc. i fish all year round. just want to take a few of my friends out shooting in the hills too and do some exploring.
the prices seem ok to me but i guess that is just bc i live here. the dealers are always overpriced and over KBB. i just want a 4r thats nice, "reliable (compared to my current truck), decent miles, and is faster than my 3.slow. HHAhHAhAh.
imma keep on looking.

Don't be afraid to get a deal on a truck with high miles, you're gonna mod the heck out of it anyway. Take that money you saved and use that for all the mods and maintenance items to get it perfect.

^^ I have to agree with MTL_4runner on this one. That cash you save could go into makeing sure everything is in tip top order. That 99 sounds like a good deal especially when compared to the other 3 you have listed. I would check it out. Maybe find out what you can on the service history and give it a second look. AND is a 5spd!

didnt even catch it, if the records are there...timing belt is a key one to look for as it should be done at 90k....104 is low for the 99 and just breaking in!
