Well, I screwed myself. While installing my lift I smashed my upper bj stud. The top two threads are damaged and i can't get my castle nut back on. Anybody have any ideas besides replacement? I haven't tried tap/die yet. I'll have to buy the right one first. I tried to use a file to clean it up a little, but no luck.

Die or thread straitner would be best..but that size is pretty big and might be special order....what can work in a pinch since the castle nut is not going to hold onto the last two threads is to file the first two threads down enough so that the castle nut threads will clear them and start biting at thread # three...

Well, if it's only the top TWO threads you could try filing them down to the next clean threads. You'd want to clean it up all the way 'round.

Yeah, I thought about doing that as well. The only problem is I don't want to destroy the threads on the nut as well. That may be my only hope for now. I don't feel like dropping $50 on a new BJ right now. dddddddddd

Hmmmmmm, well as long as you clean up the bad threads the nut should be ok.

I had boogered up threads on my upper bj's when i got my manual hub spindles.

I just chopped the threads off the top because I couldn't get the castle nut on. I wasn't able to put a cotter pin in after the threads i removed, but I did tach weld the castle nut on there.

It has hold up well so far, but Its just temporary and needs to be replaced.
