Upgrading to Late 3rd Gen Interior

I did a quick search but didnt really find anything. Ive got a '96 SR5 4runner and Id like to upgrade to the newer interior of the late 3rd gens. Id mainly like the digital climate control and auto up/down windows. What all do I need to buy to do this swap? Is it as simple as swapping a few controls/switches or are there big things like wiring harnesses and such? Will the digital climate control work with the E3 dash or do I need a L3 dash? Thanks, Kyle.

The climate control portion would be a lot more than just the control switches and would include motorized actuators and rewiring of a significant portion of the dash controls.

The auto up/down windows would probably require rewiring some components also, to add in the relays and controls for the auto windows.

One way or another, it's not as simple as plugging in new switches.

It not a plug and play operation. I am willing to bet that you would need a new body control module just for the windows, then you would have to splice into your harness to make it work! And the AC controls would need to be completely replaced, including new actuators, blower motors, etc!

IMHO its not worth the work/money involved!

there are significant changes between the 96-98 3rd gens and the 99-02s.

Center consoles and other cosmetic changes are pretty well documented but auto climate control is a whole other animal...

just buy a newer one and trade up
