Upgrade shocks AND springs or just shocks with 215,000 miles?
Hello. I have a 2000 4Runner Sport 4x4 with 215K on it. I am in need of new shocks, and am NOT really interested in a lift, I am afraid of agitating other components by adding a lift, even though everything is in tip top shape.. I am not sure if there is a need to change out the stock springs due to the mileage of the vehicle. Do the stock shocks ever need replacing on a 2000 that shows no sign of sag? If I did replace the springs I would do the Sonoran Steel 3.0 Best Factory Suspension, but it will run me about $500 more than just the shocks. Any advice, comments or information would be helpful
Thank you!

X2 on changing the rear springs I would put a heavy duty spring back there if you ever carry any weight. If you like how the springs currently hold the 4runner then there is really no need to change them.
The front is coil over which if you do not know what you are doing is dangerous because the spring can unload when you take them apart.
I liked the OME springs and shocks that I put on my 97 4runner but it gave me 2.5 inches of lift. I used the heavy duty in the rear which made it so the rear never sagged again. My total was $800 for shocks and spring. Here is a writeup I did on them http://www.gentryoffroad.com/php/gen...uctreview/ome/

I have also looked at the 3.0 Sonoran Steel system too. Does anyone have experience with both or could someone explain the advantages/disadvantages of one vs the other?

If your springs aren't sagging then I wouldn't bother to replace them. There probably would be a slight difference from the newer firmer springs but they aren't really necessary.

I was interested in either the OME with only the 1.5" lift or the 3.0" with no lift by Sonoran Steel as well. Anyone else have suggestions?

There both great setups. Steve is a great guy to deal with from personal experience but I've also heard great things about toytec. I guess it comes down to budget and whether or not you want a lift. I personally like a little bit of lift.

Go with the Sonoran Steel factory setup if you don't want a lift....Steve's an awesome guy, he'll answer any questions you have and get the parts shipped quick. I did the 1.2 system and love it....My truck rides like a Cadillac.
