Univeral antenna?
I've searched and no thread were found even with different terms. My power antenna on my '98 4Runner is now useless. I know from this site the gears are shot so I disonnected the power lead to the antenna gear and leaving it up. I am also aware of the Tacoma whip antenna mod so no surprises there either. My question is: Can I use a universal antenna? My fiance` bought one for her MR2 not knowing her's is a different style than what she bought. Now I've had it for awhile in my toolbox and decided to either use it or toss it. Any experiences or help would be appreciated.

Can't answer your question but the taco whip mod is not worth it in my opinion. I swapped out a perfectly good OEM power antenna for the whip b/c I hated that the antenna would move up and down as I moved from CD to Radio to Ipod. I also thought the taco whip just looked better.
Ever since, my reception has been nothing but ass. I've searched and I think there are other antennas throughout the truck but my installer said there's only one way to install this b/c it's plug and play. I wish I never went this route so I suggest the universal antenna. You may have better luck w/ this.
