Uniden 520 XL Install (w/ pics..)
Got the CB installed today. Was about a 2 beer job (approximately an hour) with a buddy. I use the ash tray as storage all the time so I didn't want to get rid of it for a small Cobra. Mounted it under the ignition. Made sure the ambient temperature sensor wasn't blocked. No wires by my feet and plenty of leg room with where it's mounted.
Still to do:
1. Move the mounting bracket back away from the body. I don't like that the coax is being semi bent against the bumper.
2. Get rid of the Steelers-esque Sticker :flamethrwoer2:
3. Repaint the rear bumper plastic...again...lol...
Break Down:
Uniden 520XL w/ PA out - $65.99
4" Firestik - $15
Trunk mount - $8.99
18' Stainless Braided Coax - $24.99
Misc. parts (fuses, wire connectors, beer) - ~$15
Grand Total : ~$130

might be a good idea to put that firestick on a spring. ANd you forgot to put the price on that tennis ball. lol
Other than that looks pretty clean. Where did you find that braided coax. never seen that before.

I like it so far. Nothing to compare it to, as this is my first CB My roommate has the same one as well in his Mazda3 and its nice to be able to chit-chat when we're on the road together or hauling pallets to the bonfire pit as I dont own a cell phone works well so far.

good thread-people are always adding CBs and the pics are most helpful 02 Limited.
I chose to simply get rid of the radio pocket and cram the CB in there right under the after market deck. I can see that would not have worked with your double din stereo.
I updated my Facebook link if anyone would like a look see and did this in combo with the Rock Slide "Combine Antenna signals" and PA speaker under hood and Cobra monitor speaker under my butt just hanging out below the seat.
Just wanted to mention that if you do have an auxiliary input on your head unit- I read elsewhere ( likely on T4R.org) how simple it is to run a mini to mini cord from your "Speaker out" jack on back of the CB to come around front to your after market radio, then you can listen to your CB through the radio speakers. When transmitting some care must be taken to not induce feedback but that means simply turning it down a bit while speaking on CB.
Just throwing this all out there and not trying to hijack your fine thread sir.

I have my antenna mounted in the same spot.
I tucked my coax between the body and bump, and ran it up and then behind the brake light, and used the plug there to feed it through into the back of the Runner behind the interior panels, all the way up to the front.
Looks good. My antenna eventually got broke into from being shut in the rear hatch (not by me).

I started out with my antenna mount there and moved it for improved swr and so I wouldn't have to move it every time I wanted to open or shut the hatch...
Same mount, just a little bit of convincing with a vice, some pliers and my good friend Bfh.
Now I'm just going to have to remember how tall it is.

What Elton said about the ground wire and I can barely get the needle to move from 1. so I'm not complaining. He's right though, prolly not the best spot on the truck, but it's the best spot for me.
I had some trouble at first, mine actually turned out to be a bad antenna, this was very helpful:
