I've finally got my new tires mounted up on LX450 rims. But no joy!

It turns out my 199mm Tundra calipers rub on the wheels. It looks like a 1/8 or 1/4 inch spacer would solve it, or I could remove some wheel material.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? It's the first I've come across this problem and I've searched high and low on the issue. Others seem to be running the LX450 or FJ80 rims with Tundra calipers.

What's the deal? Any thoughts on the best solution?

Take a grinder to the calipers.

i would definatly not grind the wheel you might be able to shave some of the caliper with a grinder, i have done that on som d60 frontends with 15 wheels

spray a little paint on the calipers. drive around the block. where ever the paint has rubbed off attack with a grinder. or get 1/4" spacers for the front and be done with it.

Well, I had to do a bit of shaving on both the caliper and the wheels. There was no way I could have taken enough material off the calipers and felt secure about it. So the wheels are a little lighter now.

I still need to grind a hair off one spot - when I really get on the brakes hard I get a slight "tick tick" that I can also feel in my foot.

I don't seem to have any wheel balance issues so far. I drove on the highway with no issues.

I don't think I would've used the grinder on my wheels. Keep a close eye on your wheel balance!
