Trying to get Toyota/Hella to pay for fog lights

I know a lot of people have been having problems with corrosion on their fog lamps. I have contacted the dealeship several times, and b/c of the mods on my truck, they say I've voided my warranty, in addition to taking it off road which caused excessive wear and tear on the plastic case enclosing the rear of the lights. blah blah blah. I've been to the dealership several times, and I've gotten the same run around.

From what I've read here and 4x4wire, Hella is no longer willing to provide a replacement. But even the replacement was the same unit, so within a few months to a couple of years you would have the same problem again.

I was wondering does anyone have a connection with a national consumer affairs group, or a connection with a news investigative team, thats willing to publsih this. So that Toyota gets some bad publicity and is pressured into paying for these lamps.

I could always try small claims. But Toyota will just say since I lifted the truck, added an aftermarket stereo, that its no longer stock, and therefore no warranty.

I think we will get better results if there is a boat load of us, and the public gets wind of toyota not backing up their products.

sorry if this sounds like I'm venting.

The Magnusson-Moss act says they have to prove that any modification caused the failure. http://www.ravelco.net/magnusonmossact.htm

As far as the off roading thing, they might have you there. But, I've heard the tacoma guys start threatening lawsuits and false advertising to the dealer and then get it covered.

Why is it when an SUV owner threatens a dealer they blow him of but when a pick-up TRUCK owner threatens a dealer they cower on their knees? Aviator

Do an internet search for the magnuson act. That's what I did and there are a lot more sites out there.
