Truck won't start after jump

Long story short I jumped my 98 4runner, but thinking back i connected the positive first. Now I get nothing. Replaced the battery. I checked all the fuses and found that the EFI was blown. Replaced that; now I hear the pump working, but no radio no locks, windows or dash, headlights do work though. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hopefully you didn't blow something in the ECM...I would pull it and start checking resistance between terminals, or you could just smell it ha if it smells burnt, no dice.

Check the FSM for proper terminal readings of the ECM

Did you test your old batery to see if it was shot for sure? It might be corroded cables/wiring.

I don't think that some electrical components would be working, while nothing is coming from other components if its just a bad connection.

Good idea though to hit those connections with some baking soda and water to get the corrosion off of there!

A bad connection heats up. Heat equals resistance. Resistance equals voltage drop. Try to start and then feel the connectors. Are they hot? Things like headlights and pumps still sorta work on low voltage. The stereo and power windows probably wont.

Had a similar situation many years back. Battery went dead, replaced it with one from the local napa, and strange things were happening. Some things worked and others didnt. Turned out that the battery napa sold me had some cracked plates inside. The brand new battery was that last thing I would have suspected.

It's a myth that this can damage anything.

make sure the cable from the positive terminal to the fuse box is not broken.. and while your at it upgrade it. make sure your grounds are still good also.

Under further investigation i discovered that the 100A fuse was blown. Now unfortunately trying to replace it i lost the screws that hold it in. So with a new starter relay and new fusible link hopefully she'll fire right up.
