TRD Supercharger - Gen 1 vs. 2
Does anyone know the production dates for each of the 2 superchargers?
Aside from aesthetics, are there any significant performance differences between the 2?
Thanks!

Hey snappy,
Have you checked Gadget web site yet? You'll find lots of info on superchargers Gen 1 and 2.
I have a Gen 2 supercharger on my 2000 4runner and you'll see a good difference on power when you install it. The only problem that I have with it is pinging. You'll also find articals in Gadget's site on how to fix the ping problem.
Good luck.

The only differnce is the casing design. Magnuson improved their casting ability and instead of making 3 different castings that are latter bolted together, it is now one casting. This reduces production costs and eliminates some of the labor needed for final assembly.
Both versions use the Eaton M-62 supercharger turned at the exact same ratio to engine speed so the same amount of air is pumped.
Once you shut the hood you have no idea what version you have so it makes absolutely no difference. With the hood open, the later version may look nicer.
I have two Gen I Superchargers, one serial number 0032 and one serial number 0299. They seem to still be working pretty well after all this time. Of course both are U-Tuned...

That is an easy question. I recommend the URD Supercharger Performance Upgrade Kit and a good tune:

I also recommend a transmission valve body upgrade. The best place for that is Import Performance Transmission in NJ. You can pull the valve body, overnight it to them and install it when it comes back modified.
