TRD Header/ catback problem????

Just recently my 4runner has been having the most god awful exhaust leak. It's driving me crazy, I jumped under it saw a leak, and replaced the gasket in between the headers and cat. Then I notice a bolt missing from the headers, and replaced that. I am still hearing a leak somewhere, and I'm going out of my mind. IT's the most horrible gurglin sound in the world. I just bought the headers and exhaust less than a year ago, if they are the problem does anyone know how I can ge tthem replaced under warranty? And if not, what can I do to solve this headache??

I have about the same set-up as you do. I too have a similiar gurgling noice. I don't have any leaks and crawled underneath and all mine is, is the cat convertor. It just has a different sound since adding the headers and exhaust...but no leak.

I would think TRD would warrant them no problem. I'd give them a call, can't hurt. I'm interested in what you find because I want the headers next (lift this summer, headers maybe in november)

Good luck!!

How much louder is the engine noise with the headers compared to the stock manifolds?

If I recall it was not really bad. I put 2.5 in with a magnaflow on it and I like the way it sounds not too loud and a nice runble at idle.

My headers did not change the exhaust note at all. Most headers dont. In fact, a lot of times the truck will be quieter due to exhaust gas velocity and that sort of thing. I did notice a more "valvee" sound from the engine. Probably because the header material is a thinner gauge than the big cast iron manifold.

If you have a leak, you should have a loss of power if it is pre 02 sniffer. Do you have a loss of power?

I have Downey headers and a free-flow exhaust... Running 2 1/2" exhaust pipe, the headers helped smoothed out the tone of my Allied exhaust. They're not louder to any regard, just a different timbre.
