Transmission fluid through the radiator?!

On my 90 model, I unhooked from the bottom of the radiator what I assume are transmission lines, as transmission fluid (or something heavily resembling transmission fluid) came out of these lines. Is this some sort of cooling mechanism? Also, on the passenger's side sort of between the running board and transmission up under the truck is some other sort of radiator. Can someone enlighten me? The truck has a 3.0 with an auto tranny attached.

Yep, your tranny fluid runs thru the radiator. It helps with the heat. This heat is passed through the engine coolant to the transmission cooler located in the radiator. The other radiator thing may be for your transfer case, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yep, it's a transfer case oil cooler. If you follow the lines you'll see it runs to the transfer case.

Are these two components some sort of "tow package" that was available, or did they all come with this?

It's pretty standard to cool the tranny fluid through the radiator. Alot of us have added a secondary cooler (made by Hayden, costs around 60 bucks).
