Transfercase shifter gasket

Transfercase shifter gasket
My transfercase has been leaking from what appeared to be the front driveshaft seal (and the chain housing seal), however after doing a bit more reading, it appears the fluid might actually be coming from the top from the shifter gasket.
I'm almost 99% positive this is the case (but havn't torn out the center counsel to confirm) however everyone adds RTV to the pre-existing gaskets (which I have always thought was a nono) and then they seem to still have the leaking problem but no one has ever followed up on whether or not they have stopped the leak.
I have a 99 LTD, do I buy a new gasket from the stealership, or ditch the gasket all together and use RTV or the toyota Orange stuff?

^ That's what I was thinking of. I've seen several threads both here and on other forums of people putting this on the existing paper gaskets, then it leaks. But no one has actually followed up as to whether or not they fixed the leak by just using FIPG or buying a new gasket from the stealership.
