Transfer Case Leak 2002 Taco

Hello All,
I have a very small 4-5 drips per night leak on my transfer case. I check the bottom and the speed sensor and nothing. It looks like the leak is coming from the top somewhere. Anyone have any ideas where it could be leaking from?

Perhaps the gasket seal on the fill or drain hole. They are "crush" gaskets and are designed for one time use. If the drain or fill plug has been removed but a new gasket wasn't used when it was screwed back in it could leak. The gaskets are about a dollar at the dealer.

Okay so i degreased the transfer case for the second time today and i think i got it about 85% clean from all the oil and dirt buildup. I cant see any visible leak but im 100% sure its coming from the top of the case and what i mean about the top is up between the cab and the transfer case. The drain plug is definately not leaking but Im thinking its the fill plug thats up high. Its weird because the oil drips down the case on the passengers side. Im really hoping its the fill plug gasket and not a cracked case. If i can figure and fix this problem i will be saving myself some money from my mechanic and can use that towards the 1000 dollar 7th injector kit for my supercharger.

I had a very similar problem on my truck and it took me quite a while to figure it out. Mine looked as though it was leaking from the seam where the t-case met the tranny and it was coming from top where I couldnt see. Turns out there is a breather on top of the transmission that had over time gotten clogged with built up dirt and gear oil and then it was trying to find a new place to breath from. The transfer case is vented with a little connecting tube to the same vent. I got to it by taking off the two shifter boot and exposing the sticks. The leak was from where the sticks went into the tranny so I took them out cleaned them and made new seals out of RTV. Hope that helps
