Which trans solenoid kit (aftermarket is best?

Hey there new friends! I recently purchased a 2001 4Runner SR5 4wd for my son. I drive an 07 slightly modded Dodge Nitro. Anyhow, the SR5 has high mileage (229,000) but, is pretty darn clean. No rust at all and everything works. It was a one owner vehicle. He's already putting together his wishlist. I've already put this site to good use since I've joined. I join sites like this with every vehicle I purchase. There is always a wealth of info and a ton of friendly people. I'm thankful you guys are here because an ugly yet intermittent problem has reared its head.

This started the day after Christmas. After you drive awhile it starts not wanting to shift. If you let it sit and cool it runs fine. Oh, we have owned for 2 weeks without incident up until this point. After scouring this site I've come to to the conclusion that I need to replace the solenoids in the trans. I hope I am correct. There is no burning fluid smell, no check engine light. No the trans temp light has not come on. No codes or any lights for that matter.

You can put it in neutral and move it with ease. There is nothing hanging up or grinding. I've looked into the Dacco kit K97958 and the Oregon performance transmission kit. Huge difference in price. $70 vs $162. Dealer wanted nearly $400 for all of the solenoids. What has me confused is how different these solenoids from different places look and they all supposedly do the same thing.

First things first, check the fluid level, in my experience you want it on the high side if not slightly overfilled.
