Exclamation Trans fluid leak

After resealing my trans pan due to a leak, I noticed that my truck was still leaking trans fluid. Upon further inspection it looked like the vss, so assumeing the o-ring went bad I just decided to buy a new one from toyota, the truck is a 98 4runner 2wd auto sr5, and the part # that I got was 89411-50010. So when I went to switch out the sensors, they physically looked different, the original one has no bends and the connector plugs straight into it, where as the new sensor has a 90 degree bend and the connector plugs in on the side. The connector does plug into either sensor, but the new one's hole for the bolt does not line up with the hole in the trans, it comes up about an inch short. So im wondering if the trans in the truck is out of another yr or make of toyota, because I know I have the correct sensor but it just is not fitting. So I guess what I am asking is what other 2wd trans will fit on the 98 2wd 4runners? So that I can purchase the correct vss for the trans.
