Tranny Gasket (FIPG RED) Question
Hi yall,
I'm in the middle of a tranny flush on my '92 3.0 4x4. The dealer sold me the FIPG Red gasket stuff to use because that's what that tranny used instead of a felt gasket. So I've replaced the tranny filter and it's gasket and then I put the FIPG on according the the specs in the FSM. I torqued all the pan bolts accordingly and am waiting for the stuff to dry. I did this yesterday morning and this morning the stuff is still kinda gooey.
-Does this red stuff dry completley hard or does it stay soimewhat gooey?
-Did I use the right stuff or did the dealer give me the wrong gasket material?
When I took the pan down, it had a black type of FIPG but there were traces of a red material on the pan an tranny surfaces from service done in the past.
I'm just trying to see if anyone has used the red before and if it is supposed to dry hard or not.
thanks,
-shawn
