Tranny flush after overheat

Just now I am getting a transmission flush on my truck after I drove it for 50 miles with the A/T light on about three weeks ago while on a trip.

How bad/good is this?

I've read that it is a must to get a flush right after you have the light come on because fluid particles wear and no longer are able to protect the transmission.

I've also heard that flushing that transmission can also cause bad because you're flushing all of the small metal pieces and that for some reason (beats me) can be bad.

Need additional information, thanks.

Uh, why didn't you stop and let it cool down?

Whenever mine has come on in the past I pull over immediately and let the light go out. Since the light's only been on a couple minutes I didn't flush it. 50 miles is a long time though...

The outside temperature was cool (50F) and for a long period of time, it was downhill. I was waiting for it to cool down, never did until finally when I was reaching the snow, it turned off.

Honest answer: lazy.
