So yesterday afternoon/evening and this afternoon/ evening, i learned how to weld and put my trailgear sliders i bought from tofer together/on. Yesterday i assembled them, today i sanded, primed, painte and welded on. With just a little bit of help from the guys that run the place i was using. Here have a look see, tell me what you think.

Yesterday,

measured the arms from the frame and then cut them.

the passenger side done,

and stuck, not welded, on.

i like the way you mounted them, iv never seen brackets on the legs like that before. iv just seen them and welded them to the frame and then added gussets.

I got the same kit from WABFAB when I did mine also got the gussets kit makes them so much stronger then just welding the round part of the stand off's to the frame.

Mine hold 3 200+ pound guys with no flex what so ever

WOW, thanks everybody, i didnt think so many would like them but i sure do.

Harley, i havnt had any bitch at me yet, BUT IM WAITING. that was the first thing i thought of when i parked in between two cars outside the barracks last night.

the reason i mounted the plates like was because they are the most evenly spaced that way, and i used gussets as well. im pretty sure theyll be strong enough to jack the truck and take a few blows.

Wyo, looks great. I ordered stubbs HD-SKO sliders and painted them with por-15. They worked perfect with not cutting, just had to weld them on. The pic are under my profile if you want to check them out.

i installed my tg sliders about 3 weeks ago. beefy aint they? and harleyman i want that to happen to me! i wish i woulds painted mine before i welded them on. it was a chore to paint them bad boys mounted up

Put it this way. I know you went to Rausch Creek the other week your first time. Well, my 2nd time I suffered a pretty big rocker dent & scraped both driver side doors on the tougher trails that we tried. My own fault, I was cutting something too close out of stubbornness. But, you'll be a lot more confident, and rightfully so, in the larger rocks with the sliders

I drove my 85 to Walmart (God knows why I hate that place) and parked up close as I knew my sliders would protect me from would be slacker door dingers.

On the way back to my 85 I saw this lady park next to me in her land yacht car and open the door hard. Caught her door right on the top edge of her door due to the lift and knocked it in a good half inch. She looked at me and I just smiled. It was pricless.

If you are going to wheel your truck at all, buy sliders from someone, they will save you over and over again.

Only thing about the 58" sliders as they are a bit "short" IMO on many applications and leave room to get rocks wedged between the body sheet metal and the tires.

Looks like you had fun with the project. What's next?

It says they're for xtra cabs...would this fit a standard size 4runner or would it extend past the wheel well?
can't believe how cheap the trail-gear sliders are and they look great too.

ok, well my sliders are the 67" version and they are pretty much perfect, there is about 1.5 to 2 inches in front and back from the end of the slider to the wheel well. and for the price you CAN NOT beat trail gear, unless you do it yourself. these things are VERY beefy, and i still cant wait for someone to swing the door open in to them.

WAB, whats next you ask? well today i mounted in the transmission cooler (didnt hook it up yet), moved some stuff under the hood for my CKMA12 ARB compressor, bought a bunch of crap to wire in my Aux fuse box, i need someone to install my locker and new gears, and then tires.
gimme 5 minutes and ill post up the pic i took from today.

goat, yea i was tired of struggling with holding them while painting so i took 15 minutes and gave em a quick standing lesson.
