Traded my Gen 2 for a Gen 3

Well didn't plan on it but stopped by dealer yesterday to look for an RX300 ... had a sales guy I have known for almost two years and he knows I was looking for a nice Runner and caught me to tell me they had taken in a 98 SR5. So long story short, I traded my 95. Was with mixed emotions too as I pretty much knew what I had and anytime you buy a used vehicle, you have to go throught the learning curve again, so with that said ...

I already learned something I didn't know about Gen 3 Runners, the wheels off my Gen 2 won't fit on a Gen 3. Funny how those really nice Michelin M/S I recently got won't fit on the fronts of that 98 ... calipers too big! Oh well now gotta buy new tires and find a Gen 3 5 spoke for the spare ... got a gen 2 Toyota alloy wheel with new tire on it to trade, oh I digress

So not knowing too much about these, I would like to get some inputs on mods that are not too expensive, just dome simple things that won't void my extended warranty. I was thinking electric fan, maybe the ISR for this one. What are some of your opinions? Thanks I'll submit a pic of the tire and the truck soon!

Well where's the pics?

My wife wants an RX300 as well, I almost have her convinced to get a 4Runner instead, easier on the wallet.

Better thank your lucky stars that you didn't end up with the RX300. They're not bad for soccer moms, but nowhere near as capable as a 4Runner off-road.

Does your 4Runner have a rear locker? Also, Michelin M/S's aren't bad. I think you'll find the A/T's a bit better, though.

Congratulations on your new '98. The RX300 does ride like a dream-but is no off roader. Here is a link to a simple mod that I have been turning a few folks onto lately that do not like the look of the hood prop rod.

Burtman Industries is another 4Runner friendly site with lots of upgrades.

Thanks for the one who have responded and some gr8 suggestions. I especially like the hood mod, will definitely bookmark the site thanks.

On another note, I just picked up the overhead console for the Hilux Surf and am looking forward to installing it with some help from anyone who has installed this really kewl looking option. they really should ahve made this option for the US sold 4Runners.
