TPS Question

TPS Question
I have a '95.5 with 2.7 motor. I am trying to test the TPS to track down my hot start issues.
When checking the TPS resistances, I cannot get any reading off the IDL pin.
Does this mean that my TPS is bad, or just that it needs to be adjusted?
Thanks-

You don't check voltage on these older ones, you check resistance. I'm sure I'm using the ohmmeter correctly. I'm getting resistance readings for the other posts in the connector, just not the IDL post.
Just wondering if that means a bad sensor, or just a sensor that needs to be adjusted. The manual is vague on that point.

Mine is a 3.4 but I can check my Buddys in about an hr when he gets here I'll see what I can fig out . I don't think your tips is your prob though . Usually it will have a dead spot in it some where and it will make it idle down not up and it don't throw any codes

Let me know if you figure anything out on your buddy's truck.

Well his truck threw a code for tps along with a bunch more so I never even attempted it cause who knows what it would read lol I'm trying to help you but I'm not sure how I can without another 2.7 . Every yota I know is a 3.4 round these parts

As a follow-up....I pulled the throttle body, cleaned it (it was NAzZzTY), cleaned the IAC, and adjusted the TPS to match manual spec. It all tested out and was fine, and my hot start issues seem to have been cured. Unfortunately, I am still pulling the CPS code (p0340) and have the check engine light on - so I can't get my Taco rehab project to pass the smog test yet. I've ordered a distributor and plan to swap it (that sensor is in the dist. on these models)....I will let you know if that clears the code.
