Toyota Tacoma 3.4 TPS

2000 Toyota Tacoma Trd 226k miles. Check engine light came on last Friday for the first time since I've owned the rig. Code PO120 throttle position sensor. So I picked up a new one at autozone for $56. When I take the old one off I look at it and find a dead spider in it. I've daily drove the truck for the last two years and can't figure out how a spider got in there.

Holy smokes! Talk about weird.

Mine was throwing intermittent codes years ago when my truck was still newish, yet it didn't rob gas mileage or anything. After 3 months I replaced it finally; but didn't find any spiders in it!

Have you tried it after removing the spider? Just curious if it was a contributing factor to throwing a code or not? Hilarious.

I found a spider nest pocket thingy in mine too!! I never tested it to see if that was the cause of the malfunction tho. HAHA!

What in the blazes???

I had my '99 throw an occasional code for the TPS, most often in cold damp weather. I'd reset the code, after a while, it would come back. As part of debugging, I swapped it with my wife's '96 TPS. Result: No codes on hers, no codes on mine.

So... that's sort of where that ended. No spiders involved.

Advice: never post your phone number on a public internet forum.

Have you checked anywhere other than Ebay?
