Toyota Oil Filter w/ Synthetic

Is it OK to use Toyota Oil Filter with Synthetic oil (Mobil1, Amsoil...) or we have to run synthetic oil and oil filter (Same brand) together?

I've used OEM Toyota filters with Mobil 1 for the past 15 years with no problems at all. The fact is, while your Toyota is under warranty, you should seriously consider staying with Toyota parts "just in case". Some dealers might balk at an engine related warranty claim if they see an aftermarket oil OR air filter.

2002:

I've been doing that since day 1. Aside from my engine exploding, no problems.

j/k

It's fine.

A manufacturer cannot legally deny a warranty due to the replacement of wear items, filters/oil/tires etc. A manufacturer only has a leg to stand on when they provide the parts included in the orignial purchase of the vehicle.

We went through this on a snowmobile site I live at during the winter. Some jackhole at a dealer didn't want to warranty a motor due to the 'wrong' oil being in the tank. We straightened the hole thing out, and the jackhole lost his job over it...!

Anyway, Toyota oil filters are generally pretty darn good, but I believe they do not filter down to what an Amsoil filter does. I've given up on other filters, at least on engines I want to last forever.

I agree, no issues for me using non-matching brands of filters and oil.

So then would you gentlemen suggest the Toyota OEM filter (so far seems like it) or would you suggest using Amsoil filters?

Personally, I like the OEM filters for their quality and anti-drainback valve. But, I know Amsoil has an awesome reputation, so I would not hesitate going with them either. For me, its convenience and price. I can get a Toyota Filter for $5 anytime.

Toyota filters or Amsoil filters. whichever your budget can handle. Me being an Amsoil dealer, and having used both with an oil analysis, can say that either will be find. With the Toyota filter, follow the manufacturers directions for filter change. With Amsoil, you can go longer. I change my oil and filter at 7500 miles cause that's just me. However you can go up to 12,500 with no adverse effect. Just a matter of preference, and piece of mind.

2003 V8 4x4!!

Just got it for my wife. I still havn't found the oil filter. Looks like a pain to service. I plan on using the OEM filters and going to Moble 1 after about 10k. I traded a 92 Dodge Dakota 4x4 w/156k on it. No more Dodges for me the dealers are a real problem. I drive a 2001 diesel w/ some power upgrades 325hpw/about 600+ lbs of torque its a great truck I use it to pull my travel trl but at 62 yrs old I hope it will last me the rest of my life. The Toyota is a very nice rig I'm looking forward to some off roading.

This is all about, convenience ,convenience and convenience . I can get it anytime from local dealer while I've asked many auto stores in town for Amsoil products and most of them didn't know what I'm talking about. What a "Jackhole".

I know this was posted a few months back but I'm not sure as to how to search for it.

Anyone know the best place online to get the Toyota OEM oil filters for cheap cheap cheap?
Christian, do you remember what post I'm talking about?

I do remember...

I know here in PHX the dealers send out coupons. Oil filters are $4.85. As far as online...you may want to inquire with TOR. He seems to be pretty helpful. Try a search on Google for wholesale Toyota parts also. I ran into a couple good dealers doing that.

I've been using OEM filter and Amsoil on my rigs with no problem. I change the oil and filter every 7500 to 8000 miles. I highly recommend the OEM filter due to anti-drain back valve, cheaper price, and availability at the dealer. I have been using this combo for more than 12 years now and no problem at all.

You probably will always have a hard time getting amsoil filters locally. Why not just become a prefered member or a dealer (@ $20 per year) and have it dropped on your porch? Sell the stuff to your friends and make back your $20.

Does anyone have any long term/long mileage experience with the TRD oil filter?

Dont forget about the buying "at least $100 worth of stuff per year" part.

I dont think that would save people anything on the oil filters if they last 10,000 miles as mentioned.
