Question Toyota OEM BrushGuard Part Deux...

Hey guys,

I looked under a 1994-1995 runner that had the OEM brushguard mounted. The lower bracket mounts under the tow hooks / rings.

This lower bracket had three bolt holes (mine only has two bolt holes) to mount to the vertical pieces of the brush guard so that the brushguard can be moved in/out from the front of the vehicle. My brushguard has a noch in the metal just above the lower mounts up the vertical pieces (a half moon cut out)(this other guys did not).

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE OWN AN OEM BRUSHGUARD????

I am thinking that the lower mounting brackets were different based on the year. My guard was listed on ebay as fitting 90-95 4 runners.

I will contact the Yota Stealer to see if I can get some answers...

Thanks,
Mike

Upon closer inspection...

I didn't notice before, but I don't think the OEM guard I had had the mounting portion as part of the guard. I thought it was a separate piece that allowed some adjustment. The ol' memory is failing me, so I'm not totally sure.

UPDATE...On OEM GRILL GUARD

Well this is the deal.....according to a helpful toyota parts specialist.

This morning I looked under a 1995 and the bracket was different then what came with my guard. The bracket that I have has two bolt holes to mount to the verticle piece of the Grill Guard. The one I looked at under the 1995 had three so that the guard could be moved away and towards the grill.

Toyota has a part if you have the 90-91 model, an adaptor that costs 21.43. I believe this is the two hole bracket that I have. Toyota does not sell just the brackets for the guard....

I think I may be stuck in the water, other then making my own brackets.

DAMMIT I wanted OEM, bolt on Heaven:pat:

Wow, holy old topic, Batman!

Possible, the front mounting plates are a little wider I thought on the 89's vs the 90's 4runners, so you may have issue. If it doesn't work out, send me a pic and I may be able to give it a good home on my rig...

My 93 truck had an OEM Toyota brush guard. TJM lists a bumper for 89-94 pickups, so I'd say yes, if it fits a 93 it should fit an 89. I don't know if the 4runner guards and pickup guards are the same though. I'm thinking they would be the same because I once installed an ARB bumper that was on a pickup onto a 4runner and it bolted right up.

Oh you should have asked I have 2 of the stock brackets laying around in the scrap bin. I cut the lower part of mine off and welded the top to a TJM bumper:
