Toyota e-locker gear ratio

Toyota e-locker gear ratio
Is the Toyota e-locker independent of the gear ratio? What I mean is can an e-locker be transferred to another diff that has a different gear ratio without causing any problem relating to the differing gear ratios?
Or do I need to change also the gear ratio?
Thanks!

The e-locker should be compatable with other gear ratios, maybe not all of them, but I'll go out on a limb and say most of them. The bigger issue with it is the diff housing is different and takes some fairly major modification to fit into a non-elocker axle. Unless you're pretty handy with metal fabrication, most guys swap the whole axle (drum to drum).

you can swap whatever ratio you want on the elocker (with exception of the factory 4.88's i think). yes, if the ratio that the elocked 3rd is going on doesnt match whatevers on the third, it has to be regeared. id be willing to bet most elocked 3rds are 4.30 & 4.10. as mt goat stated, the stock axle housing has to be modified.
