www.soft-top.com They have a few styles. If you are worried about security or if you keep expensive items in your rig then I would reconsider. I think Can Back is the only one for the 4runner. Do a search for Can Back, there are quite a few sites.

[[What would you do?]]

Keep the factory hard top. No wind noise, no hot feet/cold head in winter, no flapping on the freeway, no stretched-out top sagging and looking like a tarp, no problems with the back window going up and downin the channel, no water leaks in the rain, no tree limbs tearing holes in it, no scratched up plastic windows after a few washings, no thieves getting in...

If money is no object buy a hard top and a soft top. I would guess a used hard top would be cheaper than a new soft top (but I don't know). Find a used hard top in a salvage yard. Unfortunately, soft tops are either a pain or very expensive. There is the Kayline type top or the Can-Back. The Kayline is cheap, but works, and the Can-Back is the Lexus of soft tops http://www.can-back.com. You should do some searching on the forum. There are even some folks here that fab their own tops.

I don't want to deal with the hassle and holes of the Kayline top and don't want to spend the $1000+ for the Can-Back so I take the 4Runner top off every so often when the weather is nice. I don't mind the wind and noise (that's why I bought the 89 new).

it still has the factory hardtop. That woks fine. I just want something to run in the summmer, and be able to have no top for the trails. Ive heard good thigns about the can-bak. But i also hear its expensive. So i'll have to see wut happens.
