Top-Engine Cleaner...
Have any of you guys used this? I used to have a '01 Camaro Z-28 and it was recommended to me on the ls1tech forum that this was good stuff. It's made by gm and you can get it in a liquid or aerosol (sp?). I went with aero since it was easier.
To use it you take off the air intake hose and spray directly into throttle body, with engine running, and fluctuate butterfly valve as you spray being careful not to spray too much at a time.
You then let it soak for a few hours and fire it up and drive around. It smokes like crazy after that while it blows the s#it out.
Just curious if you guys use it in the trucks since I just got a tacoma last tuesday.
Thanks,
-Barry-

Just to let you know, that's how I broke a rod in half on my previous 3.0L enigne. I think it was a combination of a little too much spray along with all the crap that was in my engine suddenly being flushed out.
Just for any one that's going to try this. Go easy and use a little at a time. Just do small amounts over the period of a day or two. It's not worth 3 grand for a new engine.

Why not? Afraid of hydrolocking? Don't like a clean engine? It did wonders for my domestic engine (which I know is built like s#it) so I think it would be even better for these.

i used to use 50/50 mixture of aft trannie fluid and water, it basically steam cleans the inside of your block. trannie fluid is abrasive and breaks up all the carbon build up and what not, works good

Am I afraid of hydrolocking? You bet.
Do I like a clean engine? Nope. I like mine filthy and disgusting.
Seriously though...
I have been a member of 3 forums, Honda, Nissan, and now Toyota. Never have I heard of using a bottle of spray cleaner, spraying it into the TB, dislodging a bunch of crap from the combustion chamber (just curious how all that crap gets past the honeycombs in the cat) and be any better from when they first started. Behind every "my friends dad, who races chevy's, and works on cars all the time and says this stuff works" is a story about someone screwing up their computer controlled engine by spraying a foreign substance into the intake (yes, that includes NOS).
