TJM Install Question on 1997 4Runner

TJM Install Question on 1997 4Runner

Iv been searching and i havnt found anything that had answered my question it could be i missed it, but iam just wondering does the TJM bracket bolt onto this part of my truck ,

i circled it in green. does the bumper bolt into them if the brackets dont?

The bumper doesn't bolt directly to the frame, the mounts that came with it bolt up right there. I am not 100% positive but I think the mounts are the same for the 96 and 97 4Runners. There is one bolt that goes in the front in that one hole. There are two bolts that go on the outside of the frame and there are two that bolt to the bottom where the factory tie downs and tow hook is located. Hope it helps.

yes it does, i was looking at bobs website about the t17 install and i looked closer at the pics and it gave me a better idea on how it installed. thank you

hey haveblue, do you think ill have to relocate my transmisson cooler for my bumper to fit right or should it be okay?

You won't have to move it. However, where you have yours mounted right now doesn't allow for the best airflow. Also, it would appear that where you have it mounted would lend itself to an impact with an obstacle after the TJM is mounted. But, I would have to see a different perspective. From the photo above, it would appear that the cooler is resting against the lower brace. With the TJM installed, that lower brace is exposed:

There's plenty of room between the brace and the bumper.

I agree, I have my tranny cooler right behind the grill, under the horn and mounted to the radiator. That puts it out of harms way and gets good air flow.
