Tires, lift and gears???

Hello to all. New to the board, but not to Toyotas. Thanks to many for the info you have already shared.

I have done the searches and am looking for just a bit more information.

The new rig is:

1992 4Runner 3.0 auto 4.88 gears. It currently has 235/75R15 doughnuts, but originally came with 31's. The OME springs and shocks are on the way.

The old rig is:

1993 Pickup 3.0 5-speed 4.30 gears with 265/75R16's (roughly 32's). Also OME rear suspension. (BTW, it's for sale...)

So, what I am curious about is,
Will the OME rear coils and a torsion crank clear 33x10.50s?
One of the gear calculators says this will effectively decrease my gear ratio from 4.88 to 4.50'ish (31's to 33's). Anybody have this combo?
How will the auto, 4.88's and 33's compare to my truck with the 5 speed, 4.30's and 32's?

Any other advice, pics or been there, done that would be appreciated. I do not want to regear and am considering swapping the 16's from the truck to the 'Runner.

Thanks in advance...

Recently I've been lookin into lifting my 87 4Runner. I haven't gotten to it yet, but I do know that with the 4" lift front and rear, it will clear 33X12.5's on the 1st gens. I would think that it would hold true for yours. I know that the effective gear ratio I want to keep is 4.10, but mine is a 5spd. To upgrade my truck from the 235/75R15's to the 33X12.5's I will put on it, I need to regear to a 4.88 to maintain the same effective ratio. Hope a little of this helps...

33x10.50s should fit with the mods you mentioned. I have an '88 p/u with 32x10.50 Super Swampers. They run less than 3/8" smaller than a BFG 33x10.50. I ran them for about 2 years with just a lift shackle in the rear, but I recently installed elripster's ball joint spacers up front.

As for gearing I can't really say. I have a tired 17 year old 22RE with stock 4.10 ring and pinions and I have to use 4th, and sometimes 3rd, on long mountain climbs. Around town it's not too bad though. By comparison, my '00 Jeep with a 4.0L 6 cyl and 32"s has stock gearing and I sometimes have to use 4th on long hills.
