I have had experience w/ the Dayton Timberline AT & MT as well as the Bridgestone Dueler AT 693.
The Dayton and Bridgestone are both good tires. The Dayton is more of an economical tire (obviously) than the Bridgestone, but still a decent performer.
Check out JacksonPT's site for tire reviews.

the bridgestones are the standard Dueler a/t, non-revo. and the daytons i think are really burly Mud terrains. I saw them on a tundra one time in spokane and they were pretty beefy if I'm thinking of the right name. I don't know what the cordovan is though

I ran the Bridgestones on my 4Runner until recently. They worked well and got me where I wanted to go. I replaced them with Yokohama Geolander AT+IIs because I could get them for $100/set less than the Duelers. The place where I got my Geolanders also had the Daytons and they looked like a decent tire.
Edited because I mistakenly said I got the tires for $100/set not $100/set LESS THAN THE DUELERS. In other words, it was a $100 savings for 4, not 4 tires for $100.

I think the tires come from the factory painted black so you shouldn't have to worry about that
While I was looking for tires a few months ago, several places recommended the Timberline ATs. I believe they had just been rated as the best all around AT by Consumers Reports or an auto magazine...can't remember which. For the price they seem like a good deal.
If you're looking for something a little more aggressive, check out the Yokohama AT +II or maybe even Nitto Terragrapplers. Those were tops on my list and the Yokos won out basically because they came in a 32x11.50.
Check out discounttiredirect.com. Thats where I got mine and I believe with shipping and having them mounted and balanced I ended up paying somewhere around $115 a piece.
