Tire and spring etc. question

Ok here goes. I did a search and no real answer.
I just bought a 96 4Runner. 3.4 auto. It sits real low. Tires are stock 225/15's. I was looking up part numbers to get new front and rear springs, shocks and struts and I noticed there are different part numbers for 15" rims and 16" rims. Can someone tell me what the difference is and will the springs etc. for 16" rims fit my runner that came with 15" rims? Also can I go to 16" rims and bigger tires without messing up the ECM etc. I know the speedo will be off.
I'm new to this generation 4Runners. I've always had pre 95's.
Thank you for all help and info.

where exactly were you looking up the parts at.. I'm sure any coil springs from the 3rd generation of a 4runner will fit regardless of the spec'd wheel size. Same thing goes with the shocks. Most Limited 99's came with 16's that were a little taller is the only thing I can think of. Yes, you can go with any size 15 and above. As for the tire size, a lot of people go with 265/75-16 which are kinda like a 31. I wouldn't upgrade tires though until you get new coils. Speedo shouldn't be off with 265s, I could be wrong though. I don't know for sure. Oh, and is it 4x4?

Yes it's 4x4.
Looked up parts on Napa and Advanced auto.
Example

Coil Spring - Rear
Product Line: NAPA Chassis Parts
Comments: w/ 16" Wheels
Per Car Qty.: 1
Compare NCP 2773477

Coil Spring - Rear

well if I were you, and wanted a stock height.. I would be searching for '99 tall coils. They will fit your vehicle and lift it 1" from over the stock height of a '96. But will still be considered factory. Get some factory replacement bilsteins or some tokico shock/struts and you'd be set. If you need some more information regarding the '99 tall coils here you go >> '99 Coil Facts
To give you an idea of such items if you were to buy in a full kit here is a link >> SS System 3 Kit. If you are interested, search around here in the classifieds section as well as ttora.com and toyota-4runner.org. I see the coils frequently being sold.

As for the coils in question from your local auto store.. it shouldn't matter what the wheel size is. I think the only reason it's saying that is some 4Runners came with a 16" wheel upgrade option. I didn't think that was available in '96 though, but again I don't know for sure. Regardless I don't think it would matter.

When it comes to coils, unless you're buying lifted coils from a well known place (toytec, wheelers, & sonoran to name a few) try to stick with toyota dealer parts as much as you can. You don't always have to buy from the dealer, there are lots of toyota sites that offer genuine toyota parts. I just don't trust coils from a local parts store like napa, oreilys, etc.. to last long. Probably end up sagging over time again but sooner than factory. Never know. Good luck!!

i have the exact same 4runner as you and im not sure why there are different part numbers just because of wheel size...but anything suspension-wise for 3rd gens will fit. But I suggest Sonoran Steel or some 99 coils as JWaldz said.
