Hi everyone just a quick question.Iam looking at getting some new tires and was looking for some advice on what tires I should get.The tires Iam looking at are the Truxus Mud Terrains,Mickey Radial Baja Claw,Kumho Venture Mud Terrains.The size would be 31x10.5x15.I currently do mostly highway driving but look forward to some off roading when I get my new tires. My big concern is what kind of mileage can I expect to get out of these tires and what ones do you think would preform the best in all weather and all driving conditions.If any one has tried one of these tires I would like to here from you. hey citrus , 1 i would like to hijack your thread as i 've been thinking of doing the reverse and switching back to original factory hoping for an increase in milage i currently have 31's on my 87 i spend more time on the highway then off road . i think all though i'm not sure it depends on what type of off road your planning on doing .... heavy duty or light the simple fact of having for wheels in action ( depending on tread ) should be fine for light duty .. but heavy duty you will definetly want a bigger meater tire ... you might want to head out to your local 4 wheeling place and try out what you have ... tires can be spendy ... thanx for letting me jump on ... also check out the classifieds there is some on selling a meatier tire because he switching back for gas milage ... send an update when you decide .

i had a conversation with a guy that i work with that used to take his old jeep on 33's out and ran with a buddy with 31's. the 33's were TSLs and the 31's were a dunlop tire i believe, mud tracks, not sure how they're spelled. he said that these dunlops loved toyota's, were good in snow and rain, took airing down and rocks really well and self cleaned in the mud unbelievably and were the cheaper tires for the price and were just as good as the higher priced tires. he said that they performed a bit better in some areas than his tsl's. just a suggestion in that route. he said that they run up to 35's if you were curious.

The Baja Claws wear, and wear fast. They are a directional tire and offer little lateral traction. IMO, a good show/sand tire but not much good for dirt, rocks, or street.

The Kumhos seem to be along the lines of most other conventional mud terrain tire. I know a couple of people who wheel them and are very happy with them. I don't know anything about their pavement performance.

The Truxxus are pretty popular right now. Since they are a swamper, I would bet they follow the swamper mold - don't wear well, are heavy, are damn near indistructable on the trail, and can find traction almost anywhere you put them (off-road). I have no first hand knowledge of these tires.

Thanks for the advise guys.I just found another tire I might be interested in.It is the Dick Cepec Fun Country II.Any one try these or know someone who has please respond I need to know as much as I can before I spend the money

the cepeks are actually made by mt now... they are great for show, but arent that great onroad at all, or off for that matter, much similar to the tsl thornbirds.... look into the kumhos for cheap, or the geolandar muds, the bridgestone muds, pro comps or similar....

i always kind of thought that cepeks would make a good snow or sand tire, due to them being so wide. tread doesn't seem pointlessly agressive like a thornbird, but i've never run them so i can't really comment
