tire: i know it's been beat to death
I know this has been covered many times, but when i look at tires online there is so much jibberish there that correspond to different pricing that i don't know what to look for. It seems like for the Dueler A/T Revos there is a price variation of around $40 and i don't know why. Speed rating, load rating, i'm sure depends but i don't know what suits best for me so i need help.....
So i live in Canada...that means i see all 4 season...but mostly my concern is snow. Right now my michelin cross terrains just don't cut it. I really have to drive with 4x4 on a lot to get me moving. In order of priority here's what i'm looking for:
1)noise
2)snow
3)treadwear
4)price
i NEVER go offroading so keep that in mind. In the summer i'll do the occasional camping trip but i don't consider that off-roading. I go mountain biking a lot but where i live we don't have mountain, just hills...So here's what i've narrowed my choices down to:
1)A/T dueler Revos
2)BFG A/T
3)Nitto Terra Grappler
4)Toyo Open country A/T (didn't get good reviews but it's cheap)
5)Michelin LTX A/T (expensive but scored good in snow)
so what type of tire should i get?? oh i'm getting 265/75/16" BTW.

haha i know they're good tires, i just want to know which application would best suit me......for the REVOs there are 4 different types to choose....i can choose between "P" and "LT" what's the main difference?? P= passenger, LT=light truck...so would that mean the sidewall would be stiffer on the LT?? for example...P265/75/16 @ $205each. LT265/75/16 @ $235each. Why the price jump??

the load rating, the P265---- is a standard load 4 ply tire, LT265----C is a 6 ply, D 8 ply and so on
you can't beat bfg a/t's in the packed snow/ice, and people really like the nitto's
if you try searching, you'll find more info than you know what to do with, on all of those tires

As previously posted on YT, I'm getting yokohama at-S's. everyone i've read about and talked to that had them said they were great, and at their price (below the big boys!) i think i'm going to try them out.
they are VERY different than the at-II's, and cost a couple bucks more per tire. I just did an exhaustive search about 4 months ago, and have had time to think about it, so there ya go. mostly highway, wet (seattle) roads are what i'll be on. got chains the other day for the 2 days of snow we get although i'm sure the tires and 4x4 will do fine...

the toyoto A/T's are really good in the snow, i have a set for my truck that i use in the winter and for long trips. They arent anything special offroad but they do very well in rain and snow as far as handling goes, i just run them for long trips and in the winter like i said, and then when i go 4x4ing i use my wildcat EXT mudders

There are several Duelers but only one Revo. They are the best AT tire in the snow that I have used. I put 55k miles on a pair, I now have the Yoko Geolanders A/T plus II. They suck in comparison. Loud and hard to keep balanced. If you don't offroad- just get the 265/75/16 S rated. They are beyond sticky.

had a set of 32x11.50 BFG a/t's on my 79 toy last winter, great tire on the street, not to bad off road either, noise isnt bad being an a/t and in snow/ice, i havent found a better tire, just bought a set of 235/75/15s for my DD grand cherokee, and in the recent snow i am still amazed at these tires, i've also seen these tires last for upwards of 100K miles
