tire carrier

Looking to put a swing out spare tire carrier on my 91 runners tailgate, The stock carrier under the truck is a pia and the spare is to big anyway. Anyone got any good connections or places on somewhere to get one? Trying to keep the original bumper on the rig, the whole classic look, (and it has not broke off yet, if its not broke.. you know the rest)
Running 31 10.5 right now, and I bought an extra rim to match the others to do 5 tire rotation. I will be sizing up by the time they wear out so it needs to be able to hold a larger tire in the future.

Any suggestions?

Tire carrier

I'm not sure you can have a good sturdy tire carrier on there and not somehow have a custom made rear bumper. What I would suggest, since there is not a place near you in NC that I have heard of from on yotatech that does custom tire carriers for 4Runners, I would sketch out an idea of what you want and then find someone who could custom fab it up for you. There has got to be folks around you in NC who can do that with ease, it's just gonna take some moola and some local researching. I would go with word of mouth reputation if you stay local. You might even possibly find someone who does that kind of things for Jeeps and see if they would help you out with your 4Runner.

You might try these two places.

http://www.trailcarnage.com/ and speak to Tom!

or

http://www.kenmtn.com/ but I don't hear good things about these guys and the delivery time for their product.

Hope this helps!

My 0.02.

HERE is some good reading from an often forgotten page that should be necessary reading for anyone who owns a 2nd Gen Runner.

Yup, that is Mr. Geiger's old rig.

New guy bought it, flopped it, exo'd it and still wheels it. He is in Colorado IIRC.

See what you think about Roger Brown's rear tire carrier. Might just be up your alley.
