Timing fluctuates at idle

OK, I've got a 97 with a 2.7L.
The truck runs great but I've noticed a 4 to 5 degree fluctuation of my timing at idle according to my ScangaugeII.
In the old days this would be a sign of distributor wear but this truck has no dist., only 2 coils.
Any ideas?

That's normal for electronic timing. Idling is different from real load situation while driving, as far as the ECU is concerned. When idling the timing it calculated based on sensor values that are at the extremes of what the ECU understands and expects.

Thanks for the reply.
My vehicles with distributors are very steady at idle, fluctuating maybe one degree on the timing at idle.
