have 97 4runner with 90K on the clock. Will be doing a timing belt change for the first time this spring. Should I also get new belt tensioner and upper and lower bearings or do they generally last longer. So far there are no noises from that area- knock on wood. I wanted until now to change the timing belt because I did a visual check last summer and it look fine without cracks or glazzing.

If there is any sign of noise or roughness in the bearings I would say change them. What I did was took the part to the dealer and compared it to a new one. Even though mine sounded OK by itself it was really evident when compared to the new one that the bearing was rough.
It's a lot of work to go through again if you put the old one back and it starts squealing later.
