Need a bit of info, how much did it cost yall to have your timing belt changed? I got quoted $590 for Timing Belt, Water Pump, and Drive Belts.

i think that i spend $400 + on OEM Parts (timing belt, t-stat, water pump, #1 & #2 Idlers, Drive belts, new crank bolt, Toyota red coolant.) Just buy the parts and do it your self, this way you know its done right.

Before leaving your truck, ask them what they will retorque the crank bolt to. (It should be retorqued to 217 ft-lbs on the 5VZFE) Even many pros don't have the correct torque spec because it changed after the early 5VZs had problems with the crank bolts coming loose and ruining the crank. The old spec was about 185 ft-lbs IIRC. And make sure they actually have the SST to hold the crank, some will cut corners and just use an impact on it hoping it will be good enough.

i bought my parts at yota of dallas by pm'ing a fella here and saved atleast $60 on parts..then i called around for labor quotes and went with the cheapest mechanic i TRUST.. i was quoted by the local dealership for everything for around $550-625 bucks and i ended up paying a total of $480 or so.. not too shabby.. heck thats with yota red coolant and everything.. btw if you do not go to a yota dealership then buy your own toyota red coolant and distilled water and let them use that.. lord knows what they put in it.. btw this is what i had done for that price

water pump
thermo
all drive belts
yota red coolant and distilled water

have the cam and crank seals replaced and new Toyota red anti-freeze
installed along with Alt/PS/AC belts replaced. Should not add more than $150
to your cost, plus you'll be worry-free for many more miles.
