Time to regear
I remember saying when i changed to 33's that i probably wouldnt regear as there wasnt much difference. Well, i've gotten tired of changing down a gear everytime i go up a little hill. Tired of crappy mileage too, so i've bitten the bullet and order 4.88's for my diffs. My originals are 4.30's since my original tyres were 215/70r15. I would imagine i'll notice a far difference. I ordered them from a guy who advertised on Pirate4x4. He had the best price by far and came in at least €100 cheaper than any others. They are Yukon gears which i have heard mainly good things about. I called him in the states and he was very helpful. A really nice guy and a big U2 fan, of course. The website is www.performanceoffroadcenter.com . They do all sorts and apparently he will beat any price for anything. Really looking forward to gettin them in.

I'm running 4.10s with 32s and have noticed pretty bad milage, even after changing plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pvc, O2 sensor and fuel filter this week. How bad of gas milage are you getting? How much will regearing help improve your milage? I bought mine with it's setup, so I only know the bad milage If I could in theory save xx over xx months/years in gas by gearing I think I could justify it.

I used to get about 28 miles per gallon. But since changing i get about 20 mpg, so its deteriorated pretty badly. It can only be good, i think. Also, i should be able to overtake again.

For both sets and f/r master install kits plus delivery to Ireland $560. Mind you,$146 of that was delivery. So, i gues $420 for parts plus whatever your deivery would be. Not too bad.

With 32"s and 4.10s mine is off by about 10%. If I compare my odometer to the mile markers on the highway I only show about .9 miles for every mile I've actually driven. Multiply that 1/10th of a mile times 250 miles and your mileage may not be as bad as it seems.
Oh, and delboy, that 20-28 mpg is on a diesel engine right? I wish we had them here.

i'm almost thinking of only doing 4.56s when i regear to 33s. with 4.38s and 31s, i have no trouble starting out in 1st gear, can cruise smoothly at 50 in 4th gear, 60 at about 2500rpm in 5th, and 70 around 2900. just right

Delboy! Been a while since I heard from you. I went from 4.30's to 4.88's and you will be blown away by the power change! I noticed mine as soon as I let out the clutch. I gained 40 more miles to tank of fuel too. You will be very pleased with the results!

Good to hear, I'm putting in some 4.88's in a couple days. I hope to see the same results as you.
delboy- are you currently able to use 5th gear in your truck? Eveyone else says that when they put on 33's they can't use 5th gear. The thing is I can use 5th gear. Maybe I have 4.30's or 4.56's and I dont know it.

Beater: I am calculating base on odo reading but adjusted to comensate for the larger tyres, so pretty sure its near enough.
Joey: Saw your results and that was part of the reason i went for it. Your rig looks great now. Still po'd i didnt get to meet you that time in ireland. Hope everythings going well.
Yamaha Yeah, can get 5th. Its just staying in it thats the problem. Downhill is easiest.
Really looking forward to getting them done. Now just have to decide whether to do them myself or not.

well 4:88's will be great if your never going to get bigger than 33's......I know how I am , and continually doing to mods for bigger and better......so I went with 5:29's, Lockers and 35's and a 6" custom susp. lift., with custom slip yoke driveline, because I know that soon I'm going to 36" swampers.......
