Time Bomb?
I put a reman 3.0 in my 4runner this summer. It has been ticking since day one. With a stethoscope ive narrowed to the head valve cover area. Do reman engines come with really tight lifters, etc? Does anyone know what it might be? It only does it under load not at idle.

On a 22RE some of the ticking can come from the Valve cover being on too tight. It also can be valve clearance. I had this and gave these a try and it became a lot quieter.

do you know if the tightness effects the 3.0 valve covers? Because I already have a little oil seepage on one. and I was thinking they might be to loose.

Mine does too. Someone on here pointed me toward the grommet for the steering column and when I sealed that I don't hear the clicking any more.
Turning up the stereo helps too!
