Question Throttle cable

I was lurking around 4x4 wire and read something about messing with the throttle cable?

Actually - someone mentioned bending the arm of the accelerator towards the driver (not thrilled with that idea) and later on another person followed up with just shortening the throttle cable.

I haven't had a chance to go check it out under my hood but supposing I do have some play/slack... exactly how do I shorten this cable?

Crimp?

Cut it off and tie a knot?

What are you trying to accomplish by shortening it?

I'm not sure where that info is but yes people were finding that they had slack in their cable and they were not achieving WOT. To shorten it there are two nuts right where the cable mounts to the intake. You can just loosen one it's a lock nut and then just screw the threads down like a bicycle brake kinda. It's simple to do. I did it to mine and it made it feel just a little snappier.. made the pedal a bit more responsive.

That was one person with a duble cab taco. It may have just been one part out of tollerance.

Have someone hold your throttle all the way to the floor and and check under the hood to see if you throttle is open all the way. If not adjust the cable. If you run out of adjustment and you are still not WOT then worry, but my guess is you will not.

That's Funny, Gadget.

As soon as I read this thread I had my wife hold down the throttle and I checked it. No problems here. I was kinda hoping there was slack.
