Throttle Body Squeeky Clean

I cleaned my throttle body a few weeks ago. BFD, some of you might say. I was BLOWN AWAY and what a difference it made. Glass-smooth idle! I forgot it could be that smooth. Chirps the tires. An extra 20 clicks per tank. All for a few squirts of carb cleaner and an old toothbrush.

Yep it makes a HUGE difference, you might also want to consider a PCV catch can to help keep it cleaner. I haven't done it yet, but as soon as I come up with some ideas for materials and time then I'm gonna do it.

"PVC catch can"? What is that? Maybe I know but never heard it called that.

It's basically a can or cup to catch the oil that gets sucked up into the pcv tubings. It allows the heavier oils to fall down into the bottom of the can and the gaseous air to be sucked into the intake allowing for cleaner operation. You can empty the catch can when the oil level gets higher and supposedly it adds a bit of squirrel power to your rig.

I did the throttle body cleaning on my 3.0 before too, but I would consider adjusting the throttle cable also; if it has slack in it.The 3.0 suddenly feels like it has more guts, and unleshes some of the full potential of the legendary 3.slow.

I've been wanting to to put a catch-can on my 3.0 too, but i can't find a damn water/air seperator filter to make one. I tried looking everywhere, but no sign of it; I might be looking in the wrong places maybe, LOL.

Yo Fo,

The throttle cable is brand new - the old one was stickier than a lawyer's legal fees during adivorce.

I'm gonna dyno my lemon 3VZ soon.

Call me a dumb-ass if you will but how do you adjust the throttle cable on a 3.0? I looked in Haynes but nothing was mentioned (no surprise as it is a craptastic manual)
