Do you notice any tapping sounds coming from the back of the motor at idle? I just noticed it today.. To me it sounds 'mechanical' and is probably normal. It doesn't sound like a noisy valve or anything.
It may even be the injectors because I noticed it coming from the fuel rail area....

What's up brother! Thanks for the quick reply and confirmation. My Tacoma (3.4) is a noisy SOB as well. It must be a Toyota trait..
No, I haven't consumed any oil in the last 3K miles. I topped off with some M1 10W30 and haven't lost a drop since. I'm thinking the motor was still breaking in? I've got almost 14K mi on the clock now. How about yours? Later,
Justin

Good to see you around, no problem and always gotta help a brother out It has to be a Toyota thing cause the 4L V6 4Runners make it to but slightly louder, at least it runs in the family.
I was thinking that was the only thing the break in which was causing it to burn, but now with enough miles on it their should be no problem, as my father says it goes from breaking in to wearing out
Mine has just under 8000 miles, what are you gonna do for the 15k service interval
I noticed you posted over at TS

I re-registered with a different screen name but don't hang out there much. I still have hard feelings towards the coward that banned me...
I'm not doing anything special for my 15K service. Off the top of my head I will do the following and I don't know what else yet
- Rotate Tires
- Lube drive train
- Retorque flange bolts
- Replace airfilter
- Oil change isn't due until 17K miles
I may also change my transfercase and diff fluids using Amsoil 75W90 Series 2000. If I don't do this at 15K then I will definitely do it by 25K miles..
