Theres nothing wrong with the brakes, they are all new. New rotors, SS lines, pads and calipers up front and new drums, shoes and internals in the rear....All I have to do is some interior cleaning up and she'll be ready!

Wow...one minute you're posting pics about it, the next you're the proud owner of it! Congrats

By purchasing this 4Runner, you've already got a few of the mods already installed many of the members here are still striving towards. Hope it's a good truck for you. Sounds like you got it for a good price too.

I hope to have it by the weekend and then Ill get more photos and paint those rear drums I was really impressed by how smooth this 4Runner goes down the road. I thought for sure the tires would sing a little and there would be some kind of vibration or something but it was great. It has a 1" suspension lift and a 1.5" body lift. Ill post a new thread with all the particulars once I get it home and can get under it. I am sure Ill have lots of questions and will be using the search feature alot on this site. I am definately excited and so are my kids, they cant wait to go for a ride in it, my wife, now thats a different story LOL.......

Make sure you check the oil cap. If there is metal residue on the inside of the cap you'll know if the car has something inside thats rubbing, grinding, or if the engine has past history. Just take a paper towel and wipe the inside of the cap and see what comes off. Another thing, when your in the truck and driving, shift from park to reverse and see how long it takes to shift (listen for it). Also, check the rear diff to see if oil is leaking out slowly. this is usually common but if there is some fresh oil, it may not be goood.

Thanks for the tips. I did check the oil cap yesterday and it was clean. Also tonight while driving I turned around twice in driveways and put it in park first and then into reverse and it clicked right in. I did not check the rear diff though, thanks for that tip. Ive been shopping for a 4runner for a month and this is the most bang for the buck that Ive found. The carfax came back clean too with no accidents and frequent oil changes at the dealership so I feel good about the purchase, especially after some of the stuff Ive looked at. I am constantly amazed by peoples lack of maint. history when trying to sell something with 150,000 miles on it. Ive always wanted a truck like this and look forward to learning about it and working on it.

Great! I hope you enjpy it. I've had mine for a year now exactly. I bought it with 123,000 on it and now i have over150,000 I drive it a lot and the only problem ive ever had with it is a firing order miss. One of my coils gets slightly un grounded under heavy shaking and well...offroading. It gets annoying. Every once in a while i take off teh coils and clean the area surface around it with a rag. Good luck and have fun!

Looking forward to the pictures

And yeah, I know what you mean about those drums...a bit much for me too. IMO, red calipers are okay, but painting drums red is a tad overkill.

Well, I didnt end up buying this 4Runner after all. Its a great truck and is tight but due to some budget constraints I had to back out. If anybody's looking for one thats got some good mod's done to it send me a PM and I can send you the sellers phone number. I am going to have to settle for a 4Runner a little older and not as nice, Ill post up some pics when I find one.
Thanks for all the help and positive advice in this thread.....
Scott

Looks all right... but I tend to ONLY buy 100% stock vehicles, that way you know exactly what you're getting.

Oh.. and Autocheck > Carfax...

Well, I found one! That didnt take too long! Its a good thing because I have to turn my other truck back in on the 17th! I am picking this 4Runner up tomorrow. Its a 97 with 146,000 miles. Its got a 3" Daystar suspension lift and is in nice shape. I was able to workout a cash/trade deal with the seller for a dirtbike that I had. Ill post up some better picks when I get it home and cleaned up. Im happy once again!

Yeah, I like the white too. Im excited to get it tomorrow. I am in northeast Ohio about 30 miles east of Cleveland. My neice goes to MU. I cant wait to get into the 4x4 scene, it will go with my offroad dirtbike riding well. My girls like the truck too, they already said it's much cooler then the Tundra I am getting rid of! LOL....

For anyone who may be interested, i just purchased this truck from Alex. I am currently awaiting delivery here in WA. Should be seeing it in about 2 weeks!

I'll post up the pics of it and the interior transformation when I get her here and in the shop to work on.
