Thinking about a 3rd gen, and have a question, roof rack related
Hey guys, its been awhile. I have been stuck driving a civic for the past few years after selling my 2nd gen 4runner. I am finally getting back to the yota world, hopefully I will be picking up a 3rd gen 4runner this weekend. While looking at the ad, I noticed it does not have the factory roof rack. And I was wondering, has anyone added a roof rack to one without? For clarification, here is a picture of the 4runner in question.
Also, anything else I should look out for on 3rd gen? This is the only one I could find with a 5speed and 4x4 within 200 miles reasonably priced. I know the rear e-locker was an option, but I doubt this one has it.
O ya, and a pic of my 2rd gen that I miss so much

It took several months to find a 99 3rd gen manual 4x4 3.4 w/locker. Turned out to be a Highlander even. Completely worth the wait.
So that 3rd gen looks about as base as it can get. It's a 4x? 2.7 or 3.4? Mileage? Rear wheel seal leakage, broken front right driver's seat mount bolt, warped rotors, too rusty frames, rust pinhole leaks in the rear dif, stuff like that. There've been a few threads on what to look out for so that search button would be a good thing.

the 3rd gen 4runners with no roof racks have two plastic strips along the roof each held down by 5 small bolts with torqs T25 heads...
assuming you are installing a factory 3rd gen (limited, SR5 or genuine toyota accessory) roof rack, you can just bolt it down re-using the existing bolts... unfortunately, the roof rack kit is nolonger available, as are the 3 flat cross bars... the thumbwheels and the tracks are available, as are the load bearing cross bars...
make sure you seal around each one of the holes in the roof, as well as the threads on the bolts... that will ensure they do not leak water into the vehicle...

Thanks narfy, thats exactly what i was wanting to here.
I did do a search, for the roof rack issue, and I have been browsing the sight for the past little bit and came across that what to look for thread. I would absolutely love to have a highlander, but I have a very small budget to work with, and this one is quite affordable with only 200k (laugh all u want, my 2nd gen had 280 on it)
