Do you want to keep it level in the rear...like when towing or carrying a lot of weight? Or do you want a full lift?

If you just want to level the rear, maybe you should look into some TRD airbags to go inside the rear coils.
Otherwise, if you're looking for a nice ride DO NOT buy Sway-A-Way coilovers...they're teeth chattering stiff.

Mine were...and they didn't flex too well. 675lb springs don't work on a 4Runner.

Performance products 1" springs supposedly ride really well. OME front springs ride like crap.

My downey adjustables are pretty damn soft. I'm going to be looking into getting some beefier springs soon w/ all the extra weight I put up there.

How does spring rate equate to ride quality??? Is a tacoma set up too soft for a 4Runner???

I used to have the Downey coilovers up front. They're better than stock, better than the TRD coils and will serve you well on road. Even offroad too. They're fairly soft for an adjustable coilover but firm enough for your street rod.

I still never understand this result from your pair. How much lift did you have them cranked to?
I had mine with about 2 1/4" of exposed threads from the bottom and loved the ride on road. It felt much "sportier" compared to stock, I never had issues on road with the ride. I always feel like they can definitely handle corners better than my stock set ever could.
Off road I was looking for a little more compression out of them, so I tried the top out spacer and was able to lower them to only 1 1/4" of threads showing and still have the same amount of lift I had before.
Now they compress all the way to the bumpstops(maybe 1/8 off, but way closer than before) and still feel great on road.

I've seen quite a few pair of sway aways for sale on this board and on TTORA from $300-450. For that price, I think it is a steal and worth checking it out for yourself. Not to mention, if you aren't running bigger tires now, you don't even have to have them as cranked up as I do and will have an even softer ride.
If you do find used ones, they may even be the softer than 675ppi springs on them.
Just be aware that SAWs time as flavor of the month is over, so you may get some negative comments about them from the "current events web wheelers"
