Testament to durability Toyotas, it made the trip
Just wanted to drop a quick note since I've been non existent since moving from Co Springs, Co to Satellite Beach, Fl. Just to recap, I picked up an 86 4x4 for cheap in Mar. Put a new clutch, and timing chain, and gave it a typical tune-up before hitting the road in May. Took the long route by visiting all over the midwest and southern US before finally getting here in Jul. Overall I put about 3k miles on it. It burned about 1/4 quart of oil per 10 to 12 hr driving day, which personally for a high mileage old engine that still needs work, wasn't too bad. The thing I had to do was replace the Pos battery cable in Missouri. Other than that it ran very well. It did tend to start running a bit warm after driving all day in the Southern humid heat but it never reached overheating. I really wanted to say thanks for the peeps that helped me out with my questions and looking at my truck before I left the Springs. Now that I am somewhat settled after going through 3 hurricanes you guys will have to put up with my non mechanical butt asking silly questions again. Which brings me to my first--- Anyone in my neck of the woods or know of any clubs down here??
